An unbroken history
The Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb is located in western Sabine Parish. Officially recognized by the state of Louisiana in 1978, Tribal members continue to live on these ancestral lands. The community is the second-largest American Indian tribe within Louisiana.
Ancestors of the tribe include Choctaw bands who migrated to the area before 1800 and were resettled by the first U.S. Indian Agent in the region. John Sibley; Lipan Apaches including former captives; Adai, and the peoples of the Spanish East Texas missions and presidios including Natives, Spanish soldier-settlers, and French traders.
Enrollment

● Your parent or parents must be eligible for enrollment
● If you are born after 1940 you must submit a birth certificate. If you are born before 1940 a baptism certificate can take the place of a birth certificate
● Copy of your marriage license if applicable
● Copy of your parent’s marriage license if applicable
● Submit a $10.00 processing fee that is none refundable
Membership updates are due every January 1 with a processing fee of $10 per adult over the age of 18; exceptions to the processing fee include those tribal members: (1) 65 years of age or older; or (2) actively serving in the military; or (3) actively pursuing further education.
